International Human Rights Day: Fashion and Human Rights Inseparable Relationship

Hello everyone. I'm Hashimoto, a RICCI EVERYDAY staff. How are you spending?

Recently, I am rarely addicted to Japanese terrestrial dramas, and I am trying to eat three dramas, "Avaranti", "Love!

The common point of this drama is that it is a story based on the real world. In addition, it also depicts "the meaning of living as a human" human ".

Real (everyday) can be seen in the entertainment (extraordinary) of the drama ...

What does it mean to live as a single person? Although it is a very abstract expression, I think that it is a theme that should be deepened (in the long term) in modern society, which has become a "diversity society."

By the way, every December 10th is "International Human Rights Day".

The 16 -day campaign period from "International Day Demation of Women" to today's "International Human Rights Day" on November 25 of last month. Various institutions have been sending out about this campaign, so please take a look.

In this column, I would like to talk about "International Human Rights Day".

I started out well, but when I wrote a column on this theme, I thought, "Human rights, what kind of cut?" ) Let's think together!

This time, when writing a column about international human rights day, I would like to write from the perspective of "fashion x human rights".

table of contents

1. International human rights day, and human rights

2. Human rights in the fashion industry
3. What is traceability?

Four. lastly

1. International human rights day, and human rights

When you say "human rights", you may think in your head, "Is it going to be like this?"

Here, I would like to review the formation of the international human rights day, the content of human rights, and the definition.

It was thought that human rights will change depending on the country, but since World War II, it has been discussed in the United Nations that guarantee human rights will be the foundation of world peace. At present, it is said to be internationally guaranteed.

That is the beginning of "International Human Rights Day" and "Declaration of World Human Rights".

There are up to Article 30 of the World Human Rights Declaration specified by the United Nations.

If you pick up some of them, the following are written specifically.

Article 1

"Every human being is free to be born, and is equal to dignity and rights. Humans must be given reason and conscience and act with each other with the spirit of their brothers."

Article 6

"Everyone has the right to be recognized as a person under the law in any place."

(Quoted from the "World Human Right Declaration Text" on the International Union Public Relations Center website)

In addition, it is written in detail, such as religion, expression, freedom of movement, and not discrimination depending on the skin color.

2. Human rights in the fashion industry

In recent years, the creator's human rights security has been spotted in the fashion industry.

From fast fashion to high -end brands, it has become more and more bright that many creators are working at low wages without resting in poor environments.

One of the major reasons for this was the Lana Plaza case.

The collapse of Bangladish's Lana Plaza Building, which found that many creators who made fashion brand clothes in the building were sacrificed and worked in a poor environment.

As a result, in the fashion industry, we have presented consumers how, how they are produced and useful for the environment.

Consumers also came to the consciousness of which corporate products to buy (individuals and society as a whole).

Nowadays, the word "sustainable fashion" appears and is used in various scenes.

And now, the word that is attracting attention is "traceability".

3. What is traceability?

"Traceability" is "knowing the movement of the product".

Track and understand the series of flow, where the product is produced, where it is, and how it passes to consumers.

I think many people have seen a photo of "Mr. 〇〇 made" in the vegetables and rice packages sold at supermarkets. This is also one of the traceability.

By the way, in the Japanese agriculture and food industry, traceability has been incorporated in the 2000s, and in the EU countries and the United States, most ingredients are required to present traceability.

Knowing the traceability properly leads to protecting creators and consumers.

If you don't know the creator, no matter how bad the creator works in an environment, consumers will not notice it and will continue to consume the product and cannot help the creator.

In fashion, what has been a hot topic in recent years is the cotton produced in the Shin -Uygur Autonomous Region.

Cotton produced in the Uyghur Autonomous Region has been produced by Uyghur, who is forced to work, and it is also bright that Japanese fashion companies have been used in many cotton.

You may think that it's a company's problem, but if you think that the company (including me) purchased and used what the company provided, it would not be ignored.

With the traceability, such problems will also be visualized, and we will be able to think of them as ourselves.

When this problem came out, I was already shocked because I had already used what was created by the company, but I decided to wear it to the end and buy a new one. Not much.

(To be honest, it is frustrating that I can not affirm that I do not buy more. It is actually very complicated because it will be derived in Japan's economic situation and industrial issues).

Four. RICCI EVERYDAY and traceability

RICCI EVERYDAY values in various situations to tell who the product is made and what material is used.

By telling the background of products and staff who make products, we want customers to use their products for a long time.

I think that telling that will lead to one of the corporate philosophy, "Seriously, seriously, and serious."

It means that you are responsible for doing the right thing properly.

In this way, I think that it is a factor in one traceability to write a column and convey to everyone, thinking about the topic of "World Human Rights Day" and the theme.

By continuing traceability, it will create a good circulation and will be passed on to the next generation.

Four. lastly

In this column, we have sent a social, more political story.

Sometimes I hear that fashion has nothing to do with politics, but I don't think there's anything as political as fashion.

Fashion has a history of changing, for better or worse, depending on the way of thinking and people. That's why it is not possible to separate "people's lives" and "fashion", and human rights will be one of the important themes because humans are involved.

Because it is a fashion that expresses the diverse human beings, I want to create something that creators and consumers can create or wear each other.

Start from what you can. It may not be possible to have a great effect on personal actions, but if you work together, it will be a big circle and you can create a big change.cormorant.

With RICCI EVERYDAY, we will create products that can be used comfortably for everyone without forgetting the corporate philosophy without forgetting the corporate philosophy.
